Lauren Schwab, PT, DPT
Lauren takes a holistic approach to physical therapy and is passionate about creating long-term change. She chose to become a physical therapist after sustaining multiple injuries as an Irish dancer, and she understands the importance of preparing your body to carry you through the activities you are passionate about. Lauren enjoys looking at the way different parts of the body interact, which helps her figure out the root cause of pain and repeated injuries. She is especially interested in working with patients who are dealing with pain in the low back, hips, knees, and feet. In the future, Lauren plans to receive additional training for the treatment of hypermobility disorders, scoliosis, and running-based injuries.

What have been the highlights along your professional journey thus far?
I recently graduated from Saint Louis University with my Doctorate of Physical Therapy. I’ve known I wanted to become a physical therapist since I was 16 years old, and so this is definitely a highlight! My favorite parts of the program involved getting to apply my classroom knowledge to real cases and seeing patients make progress during every therapy session.

What can a patient expect from a physical therapy session with you?
Every session with me involves figuring out what works for you. I listen intently, and I will work with you to develop a tailored recovery plan that fits your needs and goals. I am passionate about creating systems that support people, and I rely on feedback from my patients to improve and adjust our recovery plan.

What do you do to stay healthy and well?
A big part of staying healthy for me is listening to my body. Some days, my energy is overflowing, so I’ll go for a run or do strength training. Other days, when I need a little extra rest, I will go for a short walk or take a nap. I am a big advocate for working with your body instead of forcing something that doesn’t feel right.

What are your favorite hobbies/things to do?
I have a hard time sitting still, so I love things that involve moving around, even if it’s just my hands! I enjoy painting, hiking, crafting, walking, pilates, and anything that involves a combination of creativity and movement. Aside from hobbies, I spend a lot of time with my family and friends, enjoying Saturday brunches and family dinners.
